New Electric Concept in Chevrolet Volt MPV5

by Zack Colt

GM is continuously trying to introduce lots of variations in “Chevrolet Volt” line up. It has introduced remarkable variations in this line up like “concept of Cadillac Converj”, Opel Ampera and “Opel Flextreme GT/E”. The new concept of “Chevrolet Volt MPV5” is going to introduce in front of the people, first time in the Auto Show of 2010 Beijing. It is basically a 5- passenger MPV. This new “Chevrolet Volt MPV5” uses the technologies of extended power-train and Electric volt. It consists of a battery of lithium-ion that provides the 16-kWh. Just like Volt Sedan, entire propulsion is provided by the electric motor. In the case of depletion of batteries, 1.4-gasoline engine provides the electricity. According to the Chevrolet, the electric range of this new MPV5 is about 32 miles whereas the range of 1.4-gasoline engine is about 300 miles. A normal household outlet of 120 volt takes almost more than 8 hours for charging but this new “Chevrolet Volt MPV5” consumes only 4 hours for the charging of 240 volt hook-up. Its interior and exterior design has lots of resembles with the “Volt Sedan”. But its front side is really much unique than the “Volt Sedan”. Another amazing thing about this “Chevrolet Volt…” is its minimum resistance of rubber tires. It is the fact that this new “Chevrolet Volt…” is not as amazing as “Flextreme GT/E or Converj” but it can provide a solid mainstream to the General Motors to regain its reputation regarding its “Volt power-train”.
