A 31-year-old Port Richey man is dealing with DUI manslaughter charges after causing a car crash that killed two people on a tandem bicycle along Keystone Road, Florida.

Cory Robert Corrado was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser west on Keystone Road near Meadows Drive at about 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday when he attempted to pass other automobiles in a no-passing zone, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. A driver heading east on Keystone Road in a Ford Escape tried to prevent a crash with Corrado by steering onto the outside shoulder, but the Chrysler hit the back of the Ford, according to troopers.

The impact resulted in the Ford overturning and careen across a paved bicycle trail, where it hit two people riding a tandem bicycle. The bicyclists, a 58-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman, both of Odessa, were found dead at the scene.

Corrado and the Ford driver, a 33-year-old Odessa man, had small injuries.

Corrado was arrested on two counts each of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide. According to the officials, he was under the influence of at least one drug at the time of the car crash. He was being held Wednesday in the Pinellas County jail in lieu of $80,000 bail.

The Highway Patrol did not reveal the names of the other people involved in the car crash as of yet.
