Three killed after car crash in Mason County, Illinois

Three people were killed in a car accident in Mason County, Illinois on early Sunday morning.

The accident took place on Illinois Route 136 – west of County Road 3700 East – just after 1:30 a.m.

A 2017 Hyundai Elantra occupied by two passengers was traveling westbound when a driver drove over the center line and into the path of a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze traveling eastbound.

The driver of the Hyundai and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Their identities were not released.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
