eBay, the popular online auction site had a surprise waiting for its viewers with the Autobau supercar that’s now up for sale at their site. A creation of the famous Swiss coachbuilder Franco Sbarro it is rare to see such cars coming up for sale at the ebay site. This car is from a 1980 production of the manufacturer and has a wacky design which is a tell tale mark of Franco Sbarro.

To indicate a few of its wacky features, the car a Grand Tourer, has gullwing-style doors which gives it an odd look. The name though not authenticated cold be Mercedes-Benz Gullwing 116 6.9.

At first look the car appears to resemble the 1980 Mercedes model of W126 coupe. That is the line of 420 SEC and 560 SEC. However the roof and window styles of this car are different as also the dashboard. The engine also is a 6.9 liter V8 engine. Along with the name as given by the seller the second look would indicate closeness to the previous version of the W116 S-Class of the 1970s.

A search on the internet also reveals that Sbarro had in the mid 1980’s manufactured some limited number of like looking Gullwing which were based totally on the W126 560 SEC.

The unit available on ebay is up for auction with the starting bid set at US $ 50,000.
