Both Mini Coupe and Mini Roadster will enter production starting next year. Jim McDowell, the companys vice president confirmed that both models will come to the US starting with the Coupe in August 2011.

“The Coupe will arrive six months after the Countryman, and the Roadster 12 months after the Countryman,” McDowell said during a meeting of the Motor Press Guild..

The Mini Countryman will go on sale in the U.S. next February.

The Mini Coupe is designed to fit a 1.6L twin-scroll turbocharged 4-cylinder – 208-hp / 192 lb-ft. The Roadster is designed to carry a 1.6L twin-scroll turbocharged 4-cylinder with 175-hp / 177 lb-ft of torque. But what makes the Roadster Concept different from the more performance-focused coupe is that it uses the engine and chassis from a Mini Cooper S model.
