Four people are dead and seven more people were injured after a multi-vehicle crash in Hopkins County, Texas on Sunday.
It was around 5:45 p.m., when officials responded to the crash on SH 19 near CR 4764, south of Birthright.
A 2007 Toyota Avalon, driven by a 69-year-old identified as Rebecca Goodson, and a 1998 Toyota Avalon, driven by a 60-year-old as Celestino Reina, were stopped on SH 19 getting ready to turn left onto CR 4764.
At this time, a 2017 Ford E Series Van, driven by a 60-year-old identified as Gerald Adams, was headed northbound behind a vehicle that had passed Goodson and Reina’s cars on the shoulder.
Adams then failed to control his speed and struck Reina’s vehicle. Reina’s vehicle then hit a 2023 Cadillac Escalade and a 2014 Kia Soul, which were traveling south on SH 19, while Adams’ vehicle continued to hit Goodson’s vehicle.
Celestino Reina was pronounced dead at the scene.
Celia Reina, 60; Maria Reina, 22; and a 7-year-old boy, were killed as well.
Goodson, and a passenger in her vehicle, identified as Joyce Moore, 72, were both hospitalized.
The driver of the Escalade, named Brian Feiden, 47, of Whitehouse, was released after treatment.
Passengers in the Escalade were also released after treatment.
The driver of the Soul and its passenger were also hospitalized.
Adams was not injured in the crash.
Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the crash.
