Jeep plans to revive the current Cherokee Trailhawk starting next year, yet current info suggests the US company changed the mechanical formula during the car`s development.
This means that in early form, the 2027 Cherokee was supposed to pack a flat-four turbo engine with a plug in hybrid system. However, that direction has faded. The older Grand Cherokee 4xe no longer sits in the lineup after a weak public response, repeated reliability concerns, and tougher fuel economy demands pushed Stellantis toward other electrified layouts.

One such layout already appears in the larger Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4xe. Its system combines a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, a generator, one high-voltage battery, and two electric drive motors. The electric side handles propulsion alone.
Maximum figures reach 647 horsepower and 620 pound-feet, listed in the source as 840 Newton-meters. Jeep also gives a total distance estimate of nearly 500 miles, or 805 kilometers, with the battery charged and tank filled.

Trailhawk seems headed elsewhere. The 5.7-liter HEMI now stands as the strongest candidate because Jeep already used this naturally aspirated V8 in the Grand Cherokee before.
There is another possibility mentioned in the same discussion. The 6.4-liter engine from Jeep Wrangler Moab 392 enters consideration because output sits close to figures once delivered by the discontinued hybrid version.
The newer inline-four with pre-chamber ignition does not fit this application well. Stellantis describes the system as turbulent jet ignition. Small spark plugs ignite a compact fuel-air charge above each cylinder, then the flame passes through openings into the main combustion chamber. A faster and more even burn follows. Inside the group, only Maserati Nettuno uses this setup today.

Visual clues already shown are simple but clear. Front tow hooks appear in red. A red accent crosses the hood, and a gloss-black grille is expected as part of the final trim.
Much of the former Trailhawk equipment should stay in place. That includes the electronic limited-slip differential, sway bar disconnect available only on this version, reinforced protection underneath, and the front TrailCam.

The earlier Trailhawk also used Quadra-Lift Air Suspension with semi-active damping, and there is no indication of removal. Trailhawk wheels, all-terrain tires, and the matte-black hood decal used against glare are also expected again.
One fixed reference remains pricing. The 2025 model closed at $66,185 in the United States with destination included.
