Rumor had it that the S-Class Coupe of Mercedes would take part in the Goodwood Festival of Speed. There is however now confirmation that the car that would actually take part is the CL-Class rather than a facelifted version of the 2011 CL Class. The changes that have been effected in the uplifted version of the CL Class are seen under its hood as also in interior and exterior make up.
There is the new grille and bi-xenon headlights with LED technology. There is also the presence of LED fog lamps, revised fenders and hood, and new exhaust pipes. That’s for the exterior changes or differences. A new wood trim that has been applied to the interior is the biggest change that one finds to the existing set up. For the driver and the driving experience the technology that has been added include the Active Blind Spot Assist, Attention Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Night View Assist Plus, and Active Body Control.
There is the entry level CL550 4Matic that has a 4.6 liter V8 direct-injected engine installed which delivers 429 HP and 516 lb-ft of torque. For transmission the car has a seven speed automatic transmission mechanism. Acceleration factor of the car is 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The CL600 is the top of the line model of this series from Mercedes and is fitted with a V12 engine delivering 510 HP and 612 lb-ft of torque. The car is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. The top speeds of both car models are 155 mph.
The AMG series of this class has a CL63 AMG which has a twin turbo direct injection V8 engine delivering 536 HP and 590 lb-ft of torque and there is the CL65 AMG that has a V12 engine delivering 621 HP and 738 lb-ft of torque.
For the car to make a mark and pick up sales it is important that there is some additional technologies that is added to the car. Just the lipstick changes would not work its way with customers. And the sales are scheduled to begin this fall at the USA.
