Porsche to reveil the Semper Vivus at Geneva Motor Show

by Alex

The Semper Vivus has the unique distinction of being the first fully functional and full hybrid car in the world. The car has been in the making for nearly four years now and has recently been resurrected by the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. And it will be one more to lend grace to the Porsche camp at the Geneva Motor Show. Its been a known history that Porsche is one of the pioneers in the realm of innovation in automotive engineering. The Semper Vivus is just one more proof of the fact. The year 1900 saw the birth of the serial hybrid drive under the light of the creation of the Semper Vivus, which means ‘always alive’. The credit for the feat goes to Ferdinand Porsche – the founding father of the company. Post the Geneva Motor show, the Semper Vivus will have its pristine position as a display at the Porsche Museum collection in Stuttgart.

At the 81st Geneva Motor Show, Porsche gets its position highlighted on the world premiere of a contemporary parallel full hybrid model. The Cayenne S Hybrid was a success, and the unveiling of the ‘always alive’ car by Porsche starts a new chapter in the ‘Porsche Intelligent Performance’ philosophy of the Stuttgart based company.

March 1, 2011 will witness the joint unveiling of the Semper Vivus and the new hybrid model at the press conference that is to be held in Hall 1 at the Porsche stand. Barring the grand world premieres, Porsche will boast of the concept 918 RSR hybrid racing car, that makes its European debut. The mid engined coupe can be considered a combination of the 918 Spyder with the technology of the 911 GT3 R hybrid racing car.
