The reason for upgrading a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is indeed rare and yet given the correct aftermarket components added to the car the result has been found to be a high improvement in performance at least if not the other aspects. The upgrade was carried out at the behest of Keith Brantley who approached the tuning firm Modern Horsepower for a complete overhaul of his C63 AMG.
What came about was the fastest C63 AMG in the world under the tab “Red Brown Arrow.” The Stage 3CMR Package that was applied on the car transformed the car mechanically. The engine is now a naturally-aspirated V8 engine developing 652 HP and 595 lb ft torque which is 807 Nm. This means a gain of 201 HP and 152 lb ft or 206 Nm over the base model.
In case nitrous oxide is added to the fuel the engine develops 900 hp which takes the C63 AMG to 135.37 or 218 kmph top speeds while taking up 10.41 seconds to acceleration to a quarter mile. This data was received when the car did a test drive at the Maryland International Raceway on March 25 which was when it was provided with a shot of 125 hp nitrous oxide.
Subsequent test runs the car achieved an acceleration factor of 3.04 seconds for the 0 to 60 mph sprint. For the 0 to 100 mph or 160 kmph run it took 6.59 seconds that betters the furiously fast Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 by 1.2 seconds. The modified C63 also overtook the Corvette ZR-1 and a Porsche Carrera GT at the Top Gun Run standing mile event
The owner however is not satisfied with just these performance enhancements and wants some cams, better tires & wheels, and slightly larger nitrous jets and hopefully set the bar a little higher next time out.
