Lotus Evora GTE Unveiled at Frankfurt, and Confirmed for U.S.

by Zack Colt

The new Lotus Evora GTE has been unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show, being the most powerful ever of the company. It has been announced that the car will soon be available in the U.S.

The model is based on the Lotus’ Le Mans racing car, having 444 hp, but remaining a street-legal race car. The platform manager for the Evora at Lotus Cars Limited in Frankfurt, Ian Fry, confirmed the fact that the vehicle will be omologated to U.S. standards, and its selling may start in six months from now, even though the company’s plan to manage this remain uncertain.
Suggestions have been offered, of course, like a modification kit to the standard Evora so that it could get around some regulations. It features a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 and has a widebody that’s similar to the one used on the brand’s Evora race car.

The Evora GTE received a set of light weight wheels, some extreme aerodynamics, and a stripped-down interior that is almost totally coated in carbon fiber. A sequential 6-speed transmission with paddle shifters has also been installed on the car. Initially, the car was supposed to be selled only in China, and no more than 25 units, for a very limited run, but Lotus has given its approval for this car to be available in the U.S. and in Europe.
