Lyft driver hijacked and automobile stolen in Western Springs

Western Springs police authorities are investigating a report of automobile hijacking, battery and motor vehicle theft.

It was informed at 3:45 a.m. July 31 that an unidentified man took a 2007 Toyota Avalon using physical force to eliminate the driver and owner of the car who was a Lyft driver.

The owner of the vehicle informed cops he had actually dropped off a number of people at a house in the 5300 block of Grand Avenue when among them started arguing with him about driving him back to Chicago. It is reported that the man grabbed the driver by the t-shirt and neck and threw him from the automobile. The driver was not harmed.

The car was later on recouped abandoned with a harmed tire rim in Burr Ridge.

The other guests told police they didn’t know the guy who fought the driver. He was mentioned as an African American man, around 30 years old, about 6-feet, 1-inch high, with a shaved head and wearing a grey hoodie and blue jeans.

Deputy Chief Brian Budds stated hijacking is an uncommon criminal offense in Western Springs.

“In fact, this is the first authentic carjacking report the authorities department has received in several years,” he stated.
