If you ever wished to be rollin’ in a 5.0, you would better get on it.

Ford is set to bid farewell to its renowned V8 engine classification for the 2nd time, Ford Authority reports.

Sources inform the website that the car manufacturer is preparing to replace the present “Coyote” V8 utilized in the Mustang and F-150 with a 4.8-liter V8 in 2018.

Ford has actually not talked about the report.

Ford began marketing its 302 cubic-inch pushrod V8 as the 5.0 in 1978, regardless of the displacement being closer to 4.9-liters.

Mustangs happily used 5.0 fender badges up until 1996, when it was changed by a “modular” 4.6-liter V8 with overhead cameras, however not before it was commemorated in the Vanilla Ice tune “Rollin’ in my 5.0.”

There’s no replacement for a traditional displacement, however, when Ford upgraded the modular engine in 2011 it bumped it approximately 4951 cc, which really does assemble to 5.0 liters, and brought the badges back.

Now Ford is scaling down once again. To compensate, it will be gearing up the brand-new engine with both port and direct fuel injectors, similar to its turbocharged Ecoboost V6 engines, to offer it both enhanced power and performance.
