Alfa Romeo UK launches 2011MY 159 with new revised features

The 159 saloon Sportswagon range of cars from Alfa Romeo had been displayed at the Paris Motor Show event held last year. The company is now launching the car as a 2011 model year car in the UK market. The cars would be fitted with the 136 bhp 2.0 JTDM diesel engine and there would be new interior trim and equipment that the car would be updated with.

The engine is capable of delivering 136 bhp at 4,000 rpm while delivering a peak torque output of 350 Nm or 258 lb ft that is available from as low as just 1,750 rpm. The engine is also equipped with a Euro 5 diesel unit that has a variable geometry turbocharger. For transmission the car would have a 6-speed manual gear box. Sprint factor of the sedan is expected to be 9.9 seconds (SW: 10.1 sec) for the 0 to 62 mph or 100 kmph run with top speeds being 126 mph or 202 kmph.

The combined fuel economy of the sedan is 55.4 mpg UK which is 5.1 liter per 100 kilometer. CO2 emission is 134 g/km. The Sportswagon in its turn has a fuel economy of 54.3 mpg or 5.2 liter per 100 km and CO2 emission figures of 137 g/km.

Alfa Romeo is also giving the option of going for their 1.75 liter turbo petrol engine which produces 200 bhp or the 2.0 liter JTDM turbo diesel which produces 170 bhp. All their engine variants are Euro 5 compliant.

For trim the 159 range of cars would be coming with three specifications. The Turismo which is the entry level car, the Lusso which is the comfort oriented and the sporty TI.

The entire line of cars would have a standard list of fittings to them which would be consisting of six airbags, electric front and rear windows, dual zone automatic climate control, new sports cloth upholstery, cruise control, front fog lights, car radio with CD/MP3 player and eight speakers, Blue&Me Bluetooth hands-free system, black leather steering with remote controls, black leather gear knob and 16 inch alloy wheels.

There are the additional features like leather upholstery, sports dials with white illumination, darkened interior headlining, black aluminium centre console and steering wheel trim inserts, dark chrome painted dashboard and door trim inserts, rear parking sensors, stainless steel kick plates and 17 inch Multi-spoke design alloy wheels, which are fitted on the Lusso model.

Bespoke 19 inch alloys, side skirts, lowered sports suspension, red painted brake calipers, wraparound seats trimmed in black Sports leather and Alcantara; sports pedal unit in aluminium and kick plates with the TI logo distinguishes this model from rest of the lineage.
