BMW AG stated on Friday it will temporarily halt its South Carolina plant for two weeks beginning April 3 because of the spread of coronavirus.

The German automaker stated the “dynamic development of the corona pandemic is having a major impact on the worldwide demand for cars. We are therefore taking a flexible approach and adjusting our production volumes accordingly.”

About 26,900 people in the United States have been confirmed as being infected with the coronavirus. The virus has killed about 348 people in the country.
