Electric Rolls-Royce Phantom could be on the road next year

by Alex

Rolls-Royce PhantomBritish Autocar reports that the rumored zero emissions electric Rolls-Royce Phantom could be on the road within 12 months.

Rolls-Royce has been worried about possible future bans on big-engined cars in urban areas and tougher CO2 legislations.

Electric Phantom could solve this problem, while offering zero-emissions, quiet ride and full torque from the standstill.

As most Phantom owners almost never use their cars for long distance trips(for that you have a private jet), an electric version with its limited range should be enough.

Very likely the electric Phantom will be available only for lease at selected cities around the world just like the Mini E.

Rolls Royce cars are all beautiful works of arts. Its nice to see a rare company like RR, taking the enviroment seriously. Good job. A RR should be silent and electric cars are silent. This is perfect set-up for RR. I hope reliablity, performance and its range are strong, otherwise i cant see this being any good. I heard Porsche has an expensive lithium ion battery which is very lightweight. Hopefully RR knows this, because there already heavy enough.
