Five people killed after car hits tree in east Lincoln

Five people were killed after a vehicle crashed into a tree in east Lincoln, Nebraska.

The crash took place near 56th and Randolph Streets.

Officials responded to the area around 2:15 a.m. after they were notified of the crash.

Officials found that an eastbound Honda Accord had hit a tree on Randolph Street. A 24-year-old woman was taken out of the wreck and admitted to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was a 22-year-old man.

He and four other men, ages 22, 22, 23, and 21 were pronounced dead at the scene.

These victims hailed from Lincoln. Their identities are yet to be released.

The vehicle was demolished.

Lincoln Police Department is investigating the crash.
