Ford and its joint venture partners sold 22% more cars in China during August than in the very same month in 2015, led by strong demand for the Edge SUV, Focus and Escort.

Through the first eight months in 2016, sales for Ford, Changan Ford and Jiangling Motor Corp. amounted to almost 750,000 cars, an 8% boost over the exact same period in 2015.

” We continue to develop momentum in China on the strength of the most comprehensive and interesting Ford lineup we have actually ever offered Chinese customers,” stated Peter Fleet, Ford Asia Pacific vice president of marketing, sales and service. “Our brand-new item surge continues this month with the launch of the new Kuga SUV with Sync 3.”

Changan Ford did particularly well, having a 26% sales gain during August.

In contrast to the U.S., some of Ford’s smaller sized cars are selling well in China, with sales of the brand-new Ford Focus up 92% and the Ford Escort boost of 49% compared with August 2015.

Jiangling, which manufactures Ford’s commercial automobiles in China, noted sales of 19,951 automobiles in August, boost of 16% from 2015. Year-to-date sales thus far total 159,213 automobiles, down 3% from the first 8 months of last year.
