General Motors is now the top-selling automaker in the United States. But that difference might change quickly if present trends continue at General Motors and No. 2 Ford.

The six-month sales overalls in the United States from June revealed Ford with sales of 1,345,170 vehicles, up 4.4% from a year earlier, and General Motors with sales of 1,438,915, decreased about 4.4%, throughout the very same period of 2015. General Motors’ American market share dropped to 16.3% while Ford’s increased to 15.3%– a simple one point share distinction.

GM has accelerated to assert that its purposeful post-bankruptcy strategy has been to decrease lower-profit sales to daily-rental and other fleets in favor of retail sales to individual clients. In May, following General Motors’ yearly conference, CEO Mary Barra stated the strategy of stressing so-called “retail” sales will continue.
