by Alex

Hartge is a popular car tuning company that has come up with some great tuning packages for cars like BMW, the MINI’s and the Land Rover’s. It was founded in 1971 in Germany and specializes in inserting larger and powerful BMW engines into smaller and compact cars. Needless to say, their products are well known throughout the world.

The BMW X6 is a mid-size luxury crossover by BMW which was released in 2008. Hartge, with its expertise with BMW vehicles has released a tuning package for the SUV which already received many modifications from tuning houses in the past. With this package they offer a number of modifications including exterior and interior enhancements and performance upgrades. Past experience suggests that Hartge would have given the X6 a complete makeover. Let’s take a look at the changes they bought about in the BMW X6.

The exterior package has been designed in line with Hartge’s reputation. Hartge added an aerodynamic kit PU-RIM primed along with ABE homologation consisting of a front spoiler, left and right side sills, a rear skirt, as well as two stainless steel tail pieces with quadrilateral tail pipes measuring 170 x 85 mm. The package also provides sport spring sets with a level control system for the rear axle. These spring sets decrease the car’s height by 30mm. The SUV is also outfitted with Hartge emblems, at the boot lid and bonnet of the SUV announcing to the world that it is a “Hartge product”. The package uses carbon casings for the side mirrors. Hartge also removed the wheels of BMW X6 and replaced it with a set of 22 inch Hartge ‘Classic 2’ wheels – 10.5 x 22 inch offset 33 with 295/30 ZR 22 tyres at the front and 12.0 x 22 inch offset 23 with 335/25 ZR 22 at the rear. This completes the exterior tuning of the SUV.

Interiors have also been designed to be in line with Hartge’s technology and the design of the exterior provided by the styling package. There is a special carbon interior trim for the dashboard, panels, and console. The steering wheel was also redesigned with a three-spoke leather finish, optional carbon inserts and a 186mph speedometer with a new silver-metallic dial and red needles. Hartge has also taken into consideration trivial details in designing the interior and has provided with options for a matching footrest and floor mats made from velour which are available in a variety of colors.

With regards to performance, the Hartge tuning package for the BMW X6 uses a performance module as an additional control unit. This is also fixed in the engine compartment. It is expected to improve the SUV’s performance from 306 horse power to 345 horsepower. The torque is expected to increase from 443 lb/ft to 516 lb/ft. Hartge’s new package is also expected to improve the X6 xDrive 40d’s time sheet across the board. This will enable it to race from 0 to 60mph in about 0.6 seconds with an increased top speed of 154mph.
