Hinsdale High School Swimmer and her father died in car crash

A high school teenager from Hinsdale, Kendall Pickering, with the ambition of becoming an Olympic swimmer, is dead.

Kendall Pickering, 15, and her father Robert, 59, died in a car crash which took place in North Carolina.

They were visiting colleges when their car went off the road and struck a tree Tuesday night on Interstate 85 near Kannapolis, North Carolina.

Kendall Pickering swam on the varsity swim team at Hinsdale Central and had broken school records.

Hinsdale Central High School reacted to her death on Twitter: “Our Red Devil family is mourning the tragic passing of Kendall Pickering and her father Robert. Kendall was an outstanding swimmer, student, teammate & friend who left an indelible mark on all of us. Our thoughts go out to the family, friends and all who came in contact with her.”
