Man rams stolen vehicle into two police cruisers in Gastonia

Police in Gastonia arrested a Charlotte man for ramming into two police cruisers Saturday night while attempting to take off in a stolen car.

Officials stated the incident started around 10:30 p.m. on East Ozark Boulevard near North New Hope Road when police attempted to pull over Harrison Hillman, 20, for driving with no headlights on.

Officers stated Hillman sped off towards Interstate 85, where he rammed the police cruisers near the Cox Road exit. He then jumped out of the car and attempted to run away.

Authorities stated Hillman was impaired at the time of the occurrence.

Hillman has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing/eluding arrest in a vehicle, resisting a public officer, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a government worker, two counts of harm to personal property and driving with a revoked license.

Hillman is currently being held at the Gaston County Jail with a bail set at $150,000. He is set to appear in court on Tuesday.
