Mazda MX-5 Superlight Concept heading to Frankfurt

by Alex

Mazda MX-5 SuperlightIn September at the Frankfurt Auto Show Mazda will show a concept dubbed MX-5 Superlight, to celebrate 20 years of the most popular roadster in the world.

Over 860,000 units of the MX-5 have been sold around the world in 20 years.

Mazda MX-5 Superlight is designed at Mazda’s studio in Frankfurt, Germany. Don’t expect to see it in production as it is a pure show car featuring lightweight technology, improved handling and better fuel economy combined with lower CO2 emissions.

And yes you are seeing it right, it has NO windscreen!

No information on the engine, but we expect it to use a modified 1.8 or 2.0-liter gasoline engine found in the current MX-5.
