The CR-V is a truly iconic car in many ways. But if Toyota’s US reps are anything to go by, the New 2016 Toyota RAV4 is going to be taking over the Honda CR-V in sales and will become the bestseller in it’s segment.

A robust vehicle, the 2016 Toyota RAV4 has seen increased sales for it’s fourth-gen avatar and is now ranked #3 in it’s segment right behind Ford Escape and of course, the CR-V. But the US branch of Toyota has set their sights high, with Cooper Ericksen, who is the Vice President of Vehicle Marketing and Communications at Toyota, USA claiming that Toyota is on course to sell between 300,000 to 400,000 units of the 2016 Toyota RAV4.

With the two new trims in XLE and Limited versions expected to give the sales a boost. Toyota look aggressively determined to overthrow the CR-V from it’s #1 spot. It will be interesting to see how the market ends up panning out.

The 2016 Toyota RAV4 comes with a 176 HP 2.5 Litre Petrol and 194 HP hybrid version. The petrol variant being an option in both 2WD and 4WD.
