One person died after a car crashed onto state Route 78 and caught fire on Sunday in North County, California.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) records show the car was said to have been on Rancheros Drive before it landed on SR-78 near Twin Oaks Valley Road.

The car seemed to have struck a pole at one point during the crash. Witness video showed flames engulfing the car.

Traffic was partially blocked on SR-78 westbound as firefighters were controlling the fire.
