One dead, three injured after car crash at July Fourth parade in Iowa

One died and three were injured following the Independence Day parade in Slater, Iowa.

The person identified as Karen Wheeler of Cambridge was backing out of a parking space when she hit four people. A woman, identified as Mary Nienow of Albert Lea, Minnesota was dragged under the vehicle and died.

A six-year-old from Huxley was airlifted to MercyOne, according to Iowa State Patrol.

Linda Nordstrom, from Huxley, was run over.

Rikki Powell, also of Huxley, was hit by the car.

Both adults were also taken to the hospital.

The incident is still under investigation. No charges have been levied as of yet.
