The idea of an Audi R8 Spyder racing against a Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet was mooted just to make out which of the two German makes comes out as the top wonder car.
The video shows that the Fifth Gear people are trying to make out how the Audi Spyder compares against the 500 hp 100,000 pound car segment with its long reign as king of this segment.
A comparison of the power figures of both the cars won’t reveal much of a difference between both the speed machines. Both the cars are almost equally matched in the sports car segment. A 525 hp engine powers the R8 Spyder V10 as against the 500 hp of the 911 Turbo. The 911 Turbo on the other hand produces 480 lb/ft of torque at 1950 rpm which overshadows the 390 lb/ft torque at 6500 rpm produced by the Spyder.
Would this extra torque be the factor that overpowers the R8 Spyder V10? The video would give us the answer for sure.
