Fresno SCCA Autocross 12

Calling all racing fans!! The SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) Fresno Chapter will hold its Autocross 12 event at the Fresno Fairgrounds on Saturday, November 9th, 2019. The SCAA is the ideal organization for all auto-racing fanatics. Those looking to rally, solo or road race, or volunteer on the track have come to the right place! The SCAA supports various motorsports programs and proudly provides volunteers and staff team members to a multitude of sanctioned organizations- including IndyCar, NASCAR, and IMSA.

Agenda

SCCA members will pay $40 for the entry fee to the event, while non-members pay $60, which includes an SCCA weekend membership. Check-in begins at 7:30 AM and ends at 8:30 AM with a mandatory driver’s meeting following in at 8:45 AM. The competition starts at 9:00 AM. All vehicles will need to pass a safety inspection before competing. Whether you are a competitor or a spectator, here is a helpful guide to help you navigate around the area when attending the 2019 Fresno SCCA Autocross 12 in November.

Transportation

If you are a spectator of the event or just prefer not to drive your competition vehicle around town, explore the area by way of the Fresno Area Express (FAX), which is an alternative budget-friendly transportation option. As always, Uber is a convenient choice to get around town, as well.

Where to Stay

You should be looking up hotels in Fresno, CA, as you plan your trip. While there are numerous hotels in the area, this guide can help you narrow the search. If you are looking to bring your furry friend along with you, then the Hyatt Place Fresno is a good choice since it’s also only a 20-minute drive from the Fresno Fairgrounds.

Not only is the hotel pet-friendly, but they also have an indoor pool, a 24/7 gym, and free WIFI. They offer large suites, perfect for large families and family pets. If hunger strikes in the middle of the night, don’t let your belly growl at you unsatisfied- Hyatt has 24/7 dining as well. While lodging at the Hyatt, you’ll have the opportunity to embark on an adventure as well- hike beneath the world’s tallest trees at Sequoia and Kings Canyon, witness the awe-inspiring waterfalls and cliffs of Yosemite, or visit downtown Fresno’s business hubs. You’re ideally positioned to reach the heart of the city or the natural splendor outside it when you stay at Hyatt Place Fresno.

Eateries

The screeching of the tires and the roaring of the crowd is bound to get your stomach excited just thinking about it. So, you are probably also wanting to know where you can grub down in the area. Whatever you are craving, there is a large variety of eateries that are near the Autocross event. Rosy’s, Jimenez, La Placita, Tacos Tijuana, and Castillo’s all serve Mexican cuisine. There is also a slew of fast food options nearby. If you haven’t had Fosters Freeze before and would like to, then there is one on Ventura Avenue. If you are craving pizza, then there is a Domino’s or Me-n-Ed’s Pizzeria on opposite ends on Ventura Avenue as well. Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese cuisines are also served at various restaurants throughout the Fresno Fairgrounds area. Anything your stomach desires, this area has got you covered!

Other Area Attractions

If you happen to hang around town to explore Fresno for a few days after the competition, head over to Storyland amusement park. It’s fun for the whole family and is open all year round. It’s a place where fairytales come to life. If you’re looking for a real-life puzzle (as if life isn’t puzzling enough), then make your way to Method of Escape, an escape room experience. Do you want to get ahead on your holiday shopping while you are in Fresno? Check out the River Park Shopping Center where you can quite literally shop till’ you drop or watch a movie at the Regal Edwards Cinema.

If you are looking to escape the crowds and desire some quiet time, take the quick 10-minute drive from River Park Shopping Center to Shinzen Friendship Garden. This serene garden was built by the local Japanese-American community. There, you can relax and take in nature sitting by the koi pond or sip some tea at their onsite teahouse.

Save the date and use this guide to help you plan for the 2019 Fresno SCCA Autocross 12 on November 9th. See you there!
