French automakers PSA and Renault are entitled to take advantage from all measures put in place to combat the economic impact of the coronavirus outbreak, France’s Finance Ministry informed Reuters on Wednesday.

Renault chairman Jean-Dominique Senard and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire have together evaluated the prospects of the auto industry and agreed to continue to collaborate in close cooperation, a source close to Renault also informed Reuters.

The French government on Tuesday stated it would not hesitate to use all measures at its disposal to help French companies affected by the market downturn.

About 9,134 people in France have been confirmed as being infected with the coronavirus. The virus has killed about 264 people in the country.
