Renault stops Spain operations following declaration of state of emergency

French automaker Renault stated on Tuesday that it was halting operations in Spain after the declaration of a state of emergency because of the spread of coronavirus outbreak.

“Groupe Renault has decided to stop its industrial activity in Spain for the duration of the state of emergency,” Renault stated.

“This decision was communicated yesterday to the unions,” Renault added.

Coronavirus has so far infected more than 198,000 people and killed more than 7,950 people worldwide. In Spain, it has killed 533 and infected 11,826 people.
