Volkswagen Group’s Audi brand will stop output at its plant located in Hungary on Monday, the factory stated, following Volkswagen’s announcement of a suspension of production at plants in Italy, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain.

“In light of the clearly worse sales prospects and the uncertainties emerging in component supply (because of the coronavirus pandemic), Volkswagen Group is suspending production at majority of its sites,” Audi’s Hungarian unit stated.

“The measures affect Audi AG’s sites located in Ingostadt, Neckarsulm, Brussels, Mexico and Gyor (Hungary),” it added.

Coronavirus has so far infected more than 199,000 people and killed more than 7,950 people worldwide. In Hungary, it has killed 1 and infected 58 people.
