6 injured in accident in Brooklyn, New York City

A New York City fire truck crashed into a vehicle and a building as firefighters were attending a call on Sunday, leaving six people with minor injuries.

The engine was responding to a house fire that took place in Brooklyn, New York City, around 11:30 p.m. when it crashed with a Mercedes near Avenue U and East 4th Street in Gravesend and struck into a children’s clothing store.

The Mercedes driver and five firefighters were admitted to local hospitals but all are expected to be fine, officials said.

The fire truck’s impact left major damage to a wall shared between two buildings on Avenue U, according to the Department of Buildings.

Multiple residents residing in the two buildings were ordered to vacate while engineers probe the scene or work to stabilize and fix the damage.

DOB says all evacuated tenants were provided with emergency relocation assistance.

The investigation remains ongoing.
