Tesla Inc stated on Tuesday it agreed to purchase privately held Perbix Machine Co, which develops automated manufacturing equipment.

Financial terms of the deal were not revealed.

Minnesota-based Perbix has been a Tesla provider for almost 3 years and an acquisition by the automaker would permit it to bring more parts production in home.

“With the acquisition of Perbix, Tesla further advances its efforts to turn the factory itself into a product– to construct the machine that makes the machine,” Tesla stated on its website.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has demanded performing much of the work within the company, one of the factors Tesla has been continuously pushing back production targets for the Model 3 sedan.

Tesla makes much of its auto parts, consisting of car seats, something that other big automakers don’t.
