A car crash killed two adults and one child and sent another to the hospital in Route 1 southbound near the New Meadows, Maine. Some part of it was closed on Friday night due to the crash.
According to Chief of Brunswick Police Scott Stewart, dispatch got 911 calls about a single-vehicle crash where the car struck into a rock embankment and burst into flames with the occupants inside the vehicle.
Good Samaritans tried to extinguish the fire and get everyone out of the car, Stewart said.
Soon the car was entirely engulfed in flames but helpers were able to pull two children, a girl, and a boy.
The young girl was taken to Mid Coast Hospital, however, died because of her injuries. The boy was taken to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Stewart said it was very difficult to free the two adults because of large flames and high temperatures. The two were declared dead at the scene.
The people in the car are believed to be related to each other.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
