Three dead after chain-reaction crash on I-16 in Bulloch County, Georgia

Three people are dead after a four-vehicle crash on I-16 in Bulloch County, Georgia on Sunday afternoon.

The crash took place in the westbound lanes of I-16 near the 137 mile marker.

Georgia State Patrol (GSP) said a tractor-trailer pulling a tanker in the right lane rear ended a car, resulting in a chain reaction crash.

Officials said the car that was struck ended up rear ending another tractor trailer right in front of it, resulting in the car essentially get squished between the two automobiles.

GSP said another car in the left lane was sideswiped in the crash, and two of the automobiles involved ended up catching fire.

The investigation is ongoing. It is yet to be determined that what caused the deadly crash.

“We don’t know exactly if there were mechanical issues with the truck at this time. We need to do that investigation. We’re looking also if there was impairment. We are looking at all that right now,” said Cpl. Joshua Riddle.
