Three dead after vehicle crash with Washington fire engine

Three people riding in a car died following a crash involving a fire truck north of Spokane, Washington.

According to Washington State Patrol, the crash took place on Monday afternoon on US Highway 395 northbound at Grote Road and near Loon Lake.

A car crossed the centerline into the engine’s lane of traffic. The car and the fire apparatus made contact head on.

Three people who were in the car were dead.

Two of the Stevens County Fire District 1 workers were in the engine. Both were transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. There were no other injuries.

No further information was immediately released to the public.

“I am thankful for the assistance of the Washington State Patrol, the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office, and the many community partners who have assisted with the response,” said Chief Mike Bucy.
