Three killed after car crash on Trans-Canada Highway

Three people were killed after a head-on car crash on the Trans-Canada Highway in British Columbia.

The crash took place around 1 p.m. on Tuesday on a stretch of Highway 1 when a black sedan crossed into the oncoming lane in the path of a westbound SUV, according to witnesses.

The vehicles crashed head-on, and the occupants of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene.

Victims were identified as a 51-year-old man from Sorrena, and a 67-year-old woman and 60-year-old man.

The highway was shut for hours due to the crash.

RCMP is investigating the crash. The B.C. Coroners Service is also involved in the investigation.
