Three killed and four injured after car crash on I-270

Three people died and four people were injured after a car crash on Sunday evening on Interstate 270 in Ferguson, Missouri.

The crash took place at 6:05 p.m. when three vehicles were heading east on the highway. A 2008 Lexus IS 250, was traveling and started to slide due to a high rate of speed. The Lexus then hit two the other vehicles, a 2013 Kia Sorento and a 2017 GMC Acadia.

After striking the two cars, the Lexus slid off the right side of the highway, started to roll, and hit a chain-link fence.

The three who died due to the crash have been identified as Aliyah R. Tatum, Dion Martin and Kenrick G. Smalling.

Smalling was pronounced dead at the scene while Tatum and Martin succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

None of the three were using a seat belt, according to Missouri Highway Patrol.

Two children riding in the Kia had minor injuries while the driver of the car and the adult passenger had minor injuries as well.

No one in the GMC was injured.
