A driver and co-driver have been killed in a fatal car crash at the 2021 Targa Tasmania rally, only a day after another person was killed on Day 5 of the event.

The recent crash was on Wattle Grove Road and brings the total number of competitors killed during the race since its first event in 1992 to five.

The crashes are being investigated by police.

It comes after NSW competitor Shane Navin died on Friday morning in a crash. He was 68-year-old, from New South Wales.

Targa Tasmania rally is an yearly rally event held in Tasmania, Australia since 1992.

“This is a very sad time for the Targa community,” Targa Australia chief executive Mark Perry said.
