Toyota Motor said on Wednesday it is prepared to build 800,000 vehicles worldwide in January, a record for the month, as it increases production to make up for output lost due to parts shortages.
“We will continue to maintain our production forecast of the 9 million unit level” for the year to March 31, the automaker said in a press release.
The production plan for January represents a boost of 60,000 vehicles from a year earlier.
The automaker’s production has been affected by the shortage of supplies from factories in Malaysia and Vietnam.
The automaker this week said those shortages are causing it to halt some manufacturing in Japan in December.
