Two people were killed Monday afternoon following a car crash in eastern Fresno County, California.

The crash took place just afternoon at the intersection of Manning and Hills Valley Road, when a Toyota 4Runner SUV ran a stop sign and entered into the path of a commercial big rig truck.

Both vehicles overturned and the SUV was engulfed.

Its two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. Good Samaritans attempted but were unable to pull them from the fire.

The crash led to the closure of a portion of Manning Avenue.

Identities of the victims were not released.

The driver of the commercial truck was admitted to a Tulare County hospital with minor injuries.

California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
