Two people were killed after a head-on car crash on Route 2 in Athol, Worcester County, Massachusetts on Wednesday night.
The crash took place at 7:48 p.m. Wednesday night when a 67-year-old Leominster man was killed after a head-on crash with another vehicle from the opposite direction of traffic, driven by a 46-year-old Maynard man.
The Maynard man was admitted to Athol Memorial Hospital then admitted to UMass Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
The crash led to the closure of Route 2 to traffic for some time on Wednesday night.
It is yet to be known what caused the crash.
