Two dead after two-vehicle crash near Osakis, Minnesota

Two died after a car failed to stop at the stop sign and got hit by another car near Osakis, Minnesota.

A 19-year-old man from Osakis was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado north on County Road 3 SE when a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle, eastbound on Hope Road, couldn’t stop for the stop sign at the intersection and was hit in the passenger door by the Silverado.

A 24-year-old man from Glenwood was driving the Beetle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His 21-year-old passenger also died due to the crash.

The Osakis man was taken to Alomere Health in Alexandria with injuries and was later released according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle crash, which was reported at 5:24 a.m., is being investigated. Names of the involved are yet to be released pending family notifications.
