Two girls from Richmond were killed on Sunday afternoon in Bagley Township in northern Michigan following a head-on vehicle crash on Interstate 75.

Both girls were sisters. They died after the car they were passengers in was struck by another car that had crossed the median and hit them head-on.

They were pronounced dead on the scene.

Both have been identified as Kaele Lynn Polzin, 22, and Sara Summerlyn Polzin, 16, both of Richmond, were killed after a 21-year-old Harrison woman in a 2006 Mercury Montego, who was going south on I-75, swerved to attempt to prevent a crash and crossed the median.

The sisters were passengers in a 2014 Prius which was being driven by a 22-year-old woman from Rochester for a family vacation.

The father of the girls told police he witnessed the whole thing.
