Two people were killed after a car crash involving a utility terrain vehicle in Benton County, Iowa on Saturday afternoon.

The crash took place in the 2800 block of 61st Street Lane around 4 p.m.

Victims identified as 76-year-old William Geater and 60-year-old Mary McElhinney, both of Vinton, were killed in the crash.

Officials say a Dodge Ram 1500 truck and a Polaris Ranger – UTV were involved in the crash.

Both vehicles were driving on 61st St. Ln. when the truck tried to pass the UTV. The driver of the UTV then made a left turn in front of the truck, resulting in the two vehicles crashing.

The UTV rolled into the ditch, ejecting two of the occupants, while the truck came to a stop on the shoulder of the road.

The Iowa State Patrol and Benton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash.
