Two pedestrians were killed on Friday night after being struck by vehicles on East Colfax Avenue in Aurora, police said.

The incident took place at Colfax and Uvalda Street. Officials said it seems that one person was struck when he was crossing Colfax, that vehicle stayed on the scene.

Aurora Police Department said there might have been another vehicle that seemed involved but left the scene.

Another individual involved stopped to help but was then struck by another vehicle. That vehicle also stayed at the scene following the accident.

After being admitted to the hospital, the second person was pronounced dead.

Lanes on Colfax were closed in the area as the investigation remains ongoing.
