Two killed after car crash on State Route 24 in Yakima

Two people were killed following a car crash on State Route 24 in Yakima, on Saturday morning.

An 18-year-old identified as Francisco De La Luz Pacheco, was driving west on SR 24 about 26 miles east of Yakima and his 2009 Kia Rio crashed with a 1993 Subaru Legacy that was moving east on the highway around 8 a.m.

De La Luz Pacheco’s passenger, a 21-year-old identified as Andres De La Luz Pacheco was pronounced dead at the scene, and so was driver of the Subaru, a 59-year-old identified as Lisa J. Richards, 59.

De La Luz Pacheco was admitted to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Washington State Patrol is investigating the crash.

The highway at Suntargets Road and the State Route 241 junction was closed for more than three hours before it reopened around 11:45 a.m.
