Two killed after car crashes into truck in Bronx

A 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were killed early Friday after their speeding BMW crashed into the back of a Whole Foods truck on the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx, New York City.

The two victims were going south on the highway near Exit 10 in University Heights right after midnight when their BMW M3 struck into the back of the massive, white tractor-trailer, according to police.

Police sources said the BMW may have been speeding. The force of the impact was so severe that the nose of the car got lodged under the truck.

The couple, whose names are yet to be released, died at the scene. The woman was only two days away from her 23rd birthday.

A 57-year-old man operating the truck stayed at the scene.

The southbound Major Deegan Expressway was shut for hours as police investigated the crash. It is yet to be seen if any charges will be filed..
