Two killed after car crashes with train in Scotland County

Two people died after a crash on Friday afternoon involving a train and car on Highway 74 in Scotland County, North Carolina.

North Carolina Highway Patrol said a car attempted to cross the railroad tracks and struck a train.

The car overturned and landed in a body of water close to the train tracks.

The driver of the car, identified as a 34-year-old male named Joshua Adam Grooms died. A 39-year-old male named Jeffery Dewayne Hyatt, died as well, who was a passenger in the car.

The third person in the car was taken to the hospital for treatment.
