Two killed after North Carolina trooper crashes car in Rutherford County

Two died after a car crash in Rutherford County, North Carolina on 9 p.m. Monday.

Victims include a State Highway Patrol officer and one other individual.

The crash took place when the trooper James Horton lost control of his car and struck into a Highway Patrol car, killing his brother, Trooper John Horton, and a suspect from a traffic stop.

Police have not revealed the name of the suspect who died.

John Horton was admitted to Spartanburg hospital and he succumbed to his injuries overnight. His brother, James Horton, had minor injuries and was released from the hospital.

North Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the crash which is now being investigated by the North Carolina Bureau of Investigation.
